From Family of Four to a Family of Two

The house is weird with everyone leaving. Backpacks are flying everywhere. First Aid kits are getting made, and clothes are being packed into suitcases. Travel plans are being finalized, and maps are being checked out for the last time. Cupcakes are being made, and mousse is being whipped. Sitting here in reflection, I'm really going to miss my sister. The time together was too short and could never be long enough. It will soon be quiet, too quiet. Mom is now officially retired and on her way to a trip to Scotland to walk 96 miles. (Something none of us wanted to do) BUT GOOD FOR HER. Hannah is on her way to Hawaii before she starts her Master's of Architecture. Dad, Charlie, and I are left to defend the house. Every time moms leaves, we do a major renovation to the house, first, it was the hole in the wall(a decorative hole, mind you). Then the floors being done upstairs was a surprise to all of us, and then we painted all the cupboard panels a deep, bright blue. Finally, we ripped up the carpet on the stairs and stained them a dark red/brown colour. Who knows what projects Dad and I will get up to this time?
Keep the home fires burning… they’ll be back.
