    Creating my first demo reel is an exciting step in the journey; it's similar to making your first piece of art. A Demo reel is a short video that highlights your best work. It shows your skills and creativity, much like an athlete's highlight reel. Making a demo tape is hard and quite a process. I swear I've read the same script over 50 times by now, and I still can't get it to under 1 minute and 30 seconds, no matter how hard I try. That's the industry standard. The closest I got was 1:34 seconds. Do you know how frustrating that is? After hours of editing and you still can't get the timing right! I have spent the past 5 days working on this same class project. Finding scripts and putting them in order, then recording and editing them, and repeating the process all over again until I get it perfect.

I gave up.

I switched. 

    I was supposed to be practicing my narration demo, the one I dreamed of sharing with the world one day, but I was getting too frustrated. My voice kept seeming to stumble over the words. I couldn't make it perfect in time for class. In a sudden spark of inspiration, I started working on my Animation/ Character demo last night instead. The excitement of bringing characters to life on screen filled me with energy. I'm still doing work for that class, it's just for a different project. After searching all morning, I finally found the scripts I liked, and they fit with the timing perfectly. It felt like a small victory, as if the universe decided to reward my patience. 

    I use websites like Edgestudios.com and Voicereels.com to find most of my scripts for my demos. Creating a demo reel is an exciting first step in getting a job in the creative industry. It helps potential employers to see what you can do and how talented you are. There's always room to improve, and that's something I truly believe in. This journey of learning and growing together is something I cherish, and I'm excited to share a glimpse into what I do and how the job-hunting process unfolds.
